When I was admitted into hospital for the first time in my life

This is the only pic of the time when i went to US Pizza in Baroda. I went Sayaji Nagari for an obvious reason which will be shared soon on next blog. It has been my very memorable trip to Sayaji Nagari as I spent a whole day with my friend and enjoyed a lot. I had wonderful movie experience (Love Aaj Kal) and then lunch at US Pizza... I enjoyed salads and my stomach was requesting me to stop which I did listen to it after a while. I was feeling little uncomfortable as my back pain was signaling me to rest. I ignored that and enjoyed lunch with someone special and then i chosen to get on my way back to Ahmedabad in Intercity Express. I was little lucky to have a seat near window and typed a nice text to send my friend describing the whole day we spent (It is my habit to send memorable moments via text). Till the time i reached Ahmedabad, My back pain increased to an extent that i visited directly to my family doctor. I bought some medicine and went home which i had after dinner and went to bed. Suddenly i felt like little cold and after a while i was shrinking. My parents care for me a lot and advised me to take enough rest the next day as well.

The next day was not that bad as last evening as I was feeling well. The next two days were as usual with a little fit of coughing and catarrh which I and doctor ignored as a part of fever. The third day suddenly cough has shown red signal that i have to leave from the office early and sat with the doctor to talk that bloody cough. Those days were when the SWINE FLU was on its peak. I was feeling little breathlessness and i told it to my doctor also who advised to go to Government hospital for checkup. He is the one whom i believe like god after that day. Those days H1N1 patients were treated only in government hospitals. I immediately went back home to take my father with me as the doctor advised to have a test of SWINE FLU. I still remember that i drove the way to civil hospital and went into the ward where the special kind of patients (swine flu) was treated. No one was even allowed to go near by the ward but my father requested the security to let me enter the ward as i was feeling weakness and symptoms. I entered into the ward and notices that all the doctors and nurses were wearing mask. I was also wearing mask which was then covered with the handkerchief…
J This was to make sure that if I am not carrying H1N1 at that time, I will not go out from here with the same… L i was advised to sit near by one room and asked to get admitted if i want myself to be tested against that dangerous H1N1 virus. I didn’t deny that and the doctor gave me one tablet of Tamiflu. One more guy who was there denied to get admitted and was able to get away from there soon. I had to wait there for an hour but, after an hour i was called in one room for my couple of samples to test, one from throat and one from nose. The one hour was like whole day wondering if i don’t carry H1N1 then also i might be infected as i was there in danger zone. Somehow i managed to get rid over my thoughts and completed an hour. I was to be taken to the other government hospital called V S hospital with 3 other guys due to lack of beds there in civil hospital. I reached there at 9:30 PM and was directly taken to an isolation ward where my initial treatment was started. I could feel the tension which was present at my home at that time. I called up my mom and advised not to worry about and I am absolutely alright. Treatment started with a blood sample and couple of X-Rays which was then followed by ECG. One member was allowed to be there with me in my room that equally will be treated same as myself. My dad was there who stood beside me for that journey of FIVE nonproductive, long lasting days.

The next day arose with some more complications regarding cough and sneezing with some chest pain. I called up the doctor and he wrote two more tablets… L I was totally in isolation ward from which I was not even supposed to go out for a moment. I can compare myself with the prisoners at that time but I was lucky to be accompanied by my father. I was talking more with my sisters and mom over the phone to get myself diverted from this prison. Three days went very slowly without knowing that weather I am infected or not. The reports of the H1N1 test were yet to be declared and I was feeling quite good after treatment of couple of days. The on duty doctor in the hospital told me that the tests are not carried out at Ahmedabad and so we sent the samples to Delhi for regular H1N1 test. In the evening of my third day in hospital someone came into my room that I could not even see his face. He was totally covered with the dress which prevents him from being infected from H1N1. He told me that my H1N1 report is positive and will have to give some details so that the government can take preventive actions against virus being spread by me. I have to give details of those who came into my contact since last week. I did it and was surprise to hear from my mom that the corporation doctor visited my home with some tablets which will prevent the virus to be spread. The doctor insisted to take the tablet in presence of him as welllll… J I love the way my all relative and friends were treated. The government was too active those days to prevent the virus to be spread and in turn became more dangerous.

I was having one book which I read through my journey of 5 boring, long days. Finally the last day came and I was eagerly waiting to get discharged as I was feeling very good. I managed to get over the hospital staff with the help from the doctors at civil hospital. I was advised to take rest for one more week at home as there might be chances for the virus to be spread even though I was cured. Very long, thoughtful, paining, experience comes to end with a 15 day vacation after 15 months. Thanks to the government for the support which I had availed at the time when I exactly needed. My family doctor is the one whom I should thank for all the rest of my life. Now it has been a year and I am happy that I am not among those 14,286 who died due to H1N1.
